How we make money
You should never have to wonder whether a treatment directory is steering you somewhere because it gets paid for the referral. Here is our entire business model, in plain language.
Every listing is free, forever
Every treatment facility in our directory gets a listing at no charge — including claiming its profile, correcting its details, and publishing verified pricing. A facility never has to pay us to appear, to stay listed, or to fix an error. Nothing about a facility's payment status changes what we publish about it or where it appears in results.
Our only future revenue: flat-fee featured placement
When we begin generating revenue, it will come from one thing: facilities paying a flat monthly fee for featured placement — a clearly marked promotional slot, always labeled Featured or Sponsored so you always know what is promotion and what is not. The fee is the same whether one person contacts the facility or a thousand do. Sponsorship never changes organic rankings, pricing data, or editorial content.
What we will never do: get paid per patient
Federal law — the Eliminating Kickbacks in Recovery Act — and state laws like Florida's Patient Brokering Act make it a crime to pay or receive compensation for referring people to addiction treatment. Those laws exist because paying per patient gives a directory a financial reason to push you toward whoever pays the most, rather than toward the care that fits.
We built RecoveryCost.com so that incentive cannot exist. We do not and will not charge per lead, per call, per admission, or any other fee tied to whether you contact or enter a facility. No invoice we send is ever calculated from how many people a listing sent to a facility.
Ownership disclosure
RecoveryCost.com's ownership also has interests in behavioral healthcare providers. Facilities affiliated with our ownership participate in this directory on exactly the same terms as every other facility: the same free listing, the same pricing-source labels, the same dispute process, and the same clearly marked treatment if they ever purchase featured placement. They receive no preferential ranking, labeling, or editorial coverage, and they are identified the same way as any other facility.
Editorial independence
Sponsorship and ownership never influence what we publish. How we keep those lines separate — including our correction policy and how guides are reviewed — is documented in our editorial policy. How every price is sourced and dated is documented in our methodology.
See what treatment really costs near you
Every price in the directory shows its source and an as-of date. Free for every family, no referral fees, ever.
